Build The Wall - Mexican US Border

UPDATE: June 2013

I wrote this post on February 14, 2011; it is now June 2013 and still nothing has been done about building the wall between Mexico and the United States but much has been discussed and plotted about giving Mexicans and other Nationalities that have illegal entered or illegally overstayed their visa to have the right to become an American Citizen.

Let us start with the right terminology. A person that enters the country illegally is a foreigner who is breaking the law thus they are rightly called an illegal alien, not an immigrant. An immigrant is one who applies for immigration status and obeys American laws, so let us stop calling lawbreaking foreigners immigrants. If they want the fine status of immigrant they can return to their foreign nation from which they came and apply to come to America as an immigrant legally.

American Citizenship is not a right to be tossed about lightly and given to people who come to our country illegally or who are lawbreakers by staying here beyond their legal permitted time. Being an anchor baby grown up as a child while most would want to grant citizenship is legally questionable because the parents were not under the legal jurisdiction of the State in which the baby was born if they were here illegally. You see, you can't have it both way. An illegal (a criminal of the United States) can not simply become legal by passing through the birth canal on American soil. But this is beyond the scope of this article while it still has a lot to do with amnesty.

The whole point of this article was to state the unquestionable fact that AMERICA could have build a wall on our southern border several times over if they started and were determined to finish it. Then, they could eliminate the illegal crossing and entry and the overstay of visas.

But no one in power, not one political person has the fortitude to demand that the wall be built!

Get politicians and politics out of the way. No nation can remain sovereign with porous borders. American will crumble and not be valuable to anyone if we don't face the pure fact that a secure border must be established, PERIOD. This must be dealt with FIRST, completely, and when the border is finished and the Nation's boundaries and ports are secure, then and only then should we be discussion other issues regarding illegals aliens (not immigrants) in America.

Let us look at History!

China has a Wall. It measures 3,339 miles long. This wall has 7,000 lookout towers and 700 beacon towers.

The Berlin Wall was constructed by USSR on one weekend. It began on Friday and on Monday it was finished. The Berlin Wall was 96 miles. It had 300 watch towers and 30 bunkers. During 1961 to 1990, only 5,000 people successfully crossed this border wall.

Soviets build the Berlin Wall in 3 days, Fri evening to Mon afternoon
The American- Mexican border is 1,969 miles long. The estimate of illegal entry from Mexico to US is 500,000 per year since 1990:

For a period of time in the 1990s, US Army personnel were stationed along the U.S.-Mexico border to help stem the flow of illegal immigrants and drug smugglers. These military units brought their specialized equipment such as FLIR (infrared) devices and helicopters.
They worked in conjunction with the US border patrol who were deployed along the border and, for a brief time, the smugglers and the alien traffickers simply ceased operations over the one hundred mile sections of the border was sealed at a time. It was very effective but temporary as the illegal traffic resumed as soon as the military withdrew.

I keep hearing people say the Mexican-US  Border can not be sealed. How can this be said by a country that  has sent men to the moon, and a hubble telescope giving everyone amazing pictures of space?

America Can't Build A Wall To Protect It's Citizens?!?

People who work the border have been convinced it is an impossible task. I say they are naysayers and quitters. Don't mistake me for blaming the border patrol. They are wonderful Americans doing their job, but they do believe it can't be done. I know this sounds harsh or mean but it is a LIE, that our border can not be made permanently secure. We don't need some high tech wall.

The Berlin Wall was effective and it was 13 feet high concrete, that was enforced with "shoot to kill" dead zones for people who tried to escape.

Mexicans are not illegally escaping Mexico. Mexicans are illegally entering USA. For anyone who didn't know, Mexico and America are two separate countries.... not two American states. Mexicans do not have the right to take what belongs to Americans, just as Americans do not have the right to enter Mexico and take the rights of Mexicans.

Hello!? When is it cruel to protect your border? It is called sovereignty of a Nation. All Nations have not only a right but an obligation to its citizens to secure it borders from illegal entry.

If you think it can't be done, give me the job... or I will give the job to my 17 yr old son. It a matter of weeks the border would be sealed! Building a concrete wall does not take a very long time. Even if we do 100 feet every weekend. in 20 weekends the wall would be build. But let's say we work around the clock. 100 feet each three days (and this is a slow 1961 model). In 60 days, the 2000 foot border would be complete!

And who would be the manpower, anyone receive welfare checks or unemployment. If you don't work you don't eat, unless you are unable do to illness. For 60 days tents with cots could be put up for the people to stay in while working. This does not take high intelligence. It takes common sense.

People are illegally entering the United States. This is an issue of National security! We are being invaded illegally by people who are stealing our citizens tax dollars in receiving American education, healthcare, food, jobs, and subsidized living. NO NATION CAN REMAIN IN EXISTENCE DOING THIS!

People who plead the case of rights for people illegally entering USA are traitors against our Nation. They are destroying our sovereignty, economy, security, hope and future.

I am an American Citizen. I stand up as a Patriot. I refuse to be hushed. I love my Nation. I will not be silent while our Country's survival is at stake.

What is your response? Are will you remain silent, and see what happens?

  1. Maybe you've forgotten your history lessons, but much of what IS America WAS Mexico, and not so very long ago. I live in San Antonio, Texas, this place still belongs to Mexico. You are fooling yourself if you think Mexicans crossing the border pose a threat to our nation. There are so many more important things our country could be investing money into, such as providing better education and health services for our children - for the future of our nation, wouldn't that be a smart thing to do? And also, wouldn't it be much more "Christian-like" to want a peaceful and loving existence with our neighboring country?

  2. I am so sorry you didn't properly identify yourself. Then I could have a conversation with a person. Since you just left a comment - inaccurate as it is... I will not be drawn into conversing with someone who will not own their words. If you write back on a comment, I would happily speak with you, and address your concerns.

  3. First of all, I think it is irrelevant to use an example of China, when their situation was thousands of years ago as to which does not apply today.

I believe the real topic at hand is not whether the border wall "can be sealed," but why some Americans want it to be sealed.

The "Manpower," in your eyes, would be the people on welfare and whom are currently unemployed to build the wall. Last I checked we could not make people build a wall for our country just because they receive federal benefits.

How would building a wall "protect" American citizens? There are no statistics to prove that illegals are rising the crime rate in America. There is how ever a higher "hate crime rate" in America, towards immigrant, due to the influx of immigrants in our country.

I also believe that you need to do more research on whether or not illegals are stealing our tax dollars. When in fact the IRS gives out numbers, sort of like a social security number, that allows these immigrant workers to pay taxes. So not only are illegals are not receiving the benefits this country has to offer, but they are paying into the system just as much as we are.

The media that you have watched or read is mis-leading you into an irrational fear that America is being "invaded" by illegals.

  4. Mr. James G, Thank you for your comment.
    1) The relevance of the wall of China is precisely the fact that you brought up. If China could with less technology/machinery build a wall 1000s years ago, it should be no problem for USA in 2011.

    2) "Can it be sealed?' is a valid point because many argue that we can't build a wall because it can't possibly be done. Which is ridiculous! Unless we mean it will not be done due to red tape, lawsuits, etc.

    3) The answer to the question "why some Americans want it to be sealed" is obviously an issue of some Americans understanding National defense, sovereignty of a Nation and enforcement of laws. Crossing into a country without permission and not going through the proper legal methods is a CRIME, and the person doing this is a criminal.

    4) While we do not have current laws requiring people who receive federal funds to work, this is how assistance began as the WPA work programs during the depression era that required strenuous manual labor in return for federal assistance. Many Americans worked tirelessly and gratefully to build our roads, bridges and on other Federal projects. My husband's grandfather worked daily building a road up a mountain that remains today for public access to the federal lodge and trails at the top. Working for money is the American Way, Welfare assistance is the socialist/communist way. (and other ist way) American was composed of self-sufficient people who worked hard and wanted to succeed or fail by their own willingness to sacrifice and survive. It is the backbone of our strength as a Nation.

    5) One of the primary Constitution responsibilities of the Federal government is to protect its citizens from law breakers (aka Criminals). You can call the people illegally crossing the mex-usa border any kinder gentler politically correct name you want, but it doesn't change the fact that the person breaking the law is a criminal. Language/terminology/urban coinage does not change the facts. You can call the person a friend, a worker, a neighbor, a victim, etc. but a spade is a spade (a criminal is a crime breaker).

    6) an immigrant is not a criminal nor is a immigrant an illegal person wishing to be called a citizen, nor an illegal alien.
7)The frustration of true AMERICAN citizens has turned to anger and yes in some cases hate because private citizens are fed up with the Federal government that will not enforce its own laws. We have always been a country very willing to open our hearts, and our wealth to those in need, but laws must be made and obeyed if we are to be a functioning lawful nation.

8)The issue of paying taxes is all one of whether a person has legally applied for a number or whether they are in hiding. Yes, because of the widespread problem of our Executive Branch not protecting Americas border from illegal alien criminals the IRS takes tax money from illegals. Little fact known the IRS requires all illegal gain to be reported, even Citizens are required to report money that they make through illegal transactions like mobsters, gangsters, drug cartel/traffickers, prostitutes, etc.

And finally maybe you are talking about yourself watching or reading misleading media or have been taught false information in your education because America indeed is being invaded by criminal illegals in the upward of tens of millions who are clamoring to be given a path to citizenship instead of a exit plan back to their legal mother country.

  5. An immigrant is someone who applies for a visa through our federal government, who meets qualification and requirements, who fills out all necessary forms and who if desired may apply for a legal option toward citizenship if American is currently taking in immigrants. The foolish idea that anyone who gets to America has the right to claim citizenship is illegal. If you don't like the federal laws on immigration work to have them changed. In history of our Nation, there were times that we needed citizens and thus we widely embraced all who came through the legal ports and channels, but little know to most people most immigrants had to be sponsored by a family or company who signed a legal statement that they were financial responsible for the visiting alien (non-citizen). American Immigration is a wonderful topic to study. Also unknown to most Americans today, Federal laws had quotas per country of how many people that could enter and on what kind of visiting visa (school, work, travel, etc.) with different time limits. Law abiding people came and left for their motherland based on the legal agreement they entered.

  6. Lindylou, I concur. I emigrated to Aussie after I was assessed as being a benefit to the country on at least three levels. I would bring a skill which was in short supply rather than taking an Aussie's job, and adding to unemployment of it's citizens, I would be a net economic benefit over my entire life, through retirement and to death, and that I had a demonstrated history of being law abiding.

I accepted these terms because I wanted to come to another person's country to share what they had built up, which by definition must be better than what my people have created, otherwise I would have stayed in my own country.

Conversely, people that crash the border are by definition not law abiding - they are in the majority of cases not going to enrich the country they enter or they would come in the front door. Just like the terms of entering my house, I invite you, you don't come through the window.

I am intrigued that Mexico is so devoid of shame that they sit back and allow this behaviour out of their country. I ask myself - do I sit and marvel at Mexico for this behaviour? Hell no. And USA doesn't only have one border - make a comparison with Canada - quasi-toll booth for a border post and then a 4' fence. I rode along it on the Canadian side for interest on a journey from Vancouver to Everett to see the Boeing factory.

Illegal immigrants should be deported irrespective of how long they have managed to hide in the country and this should create more opportunity for USA's own citizens and for valuable and also culturally diverse immigrants as selected by the citizens of that sovereign nation through the workings of their government.
